Plumbago Business Park wins gold

The South African Landscapers Institute (SALI) has bestowed a SALI Award of Excellence gold award in the landscape and turf maintenance category to Life Landscapes, for the Plumbago Business Park.

Life Landscapes realised the landscaping vision of Riverfields and developer JT Ross. Plumbago business and logistics parks are situated within the heart of Riverfields, and are fast becoming South Africa’s leading parks for logistics, freight forwarding and light industry.

The landscaping brief for Plumbago called for the seamless integration of landscaping within the surrounding landscape.

“The use of local indigenous grasses, shrubs and trees talks to the Riverfields commitment of creating an enhanced and sustainable sense of place. We are delighted that these efforts have born fruit,” says Lardus Erasmus, director of the Riverfields Development Company.

SALI was formed in 1984 by a group of progressive landscapers, who saw the potential of the landscape industry in South Africa. The institute promotes and recognises excellent work within the profession. The SALI Awards of Excellence are the foremost such awards in South Africa, and recognise landscaping achievements across a range of categories.

According to 2014/2015 SALI Awards of Excellence national judge Fourie Pieterse, 2014 was a particularly competitive year as it saw the second-highest number of projects entered since the awards’ inception in 1987. This year, projects from 33 different companies progressed to the national round.
